Mondira, she is from a Rimworld and joined the Union, because she believes that it is the best way to fight against the Eltaryn. Her Homeworld is a planet, that was colonized around 200 years ago by human space settlers that fled earth & had planed to found a paradise elsewhere, sadly the cryo pods & the propulsion systems broke, the planet, crashes on, lacks vital resources, they had to rely on Alien archeo tech to stabilize the earlier population by prolonging their live & rearranging their genes to diversify their pool.
Her world is the equivalent of what could happen to us if we don't change our society. Unbound capitalism in turbo mode. The world looks like a baren Rock and a giant coastal city.
Mondira is sort of a time traveler without time travel.

572 How seriously does your SC take themselves? Do they prefer a solemn and intellectual atmosphere, or do they instead delight in jokes and banter?
Depends on the SC.
The crew has an overall relaxed stance. They are a bigger family or a clan in a sense and of course some are more strict and straight forward than others. The overall approach on board is filled with jokes and friendly banter, sarcastic at times but filled with empathy.
I also would call it the LGBTQIA+ space party bus.

Well basically Star Ryde is still this idea but plot bunnies multiply daily.
The SRSIRAU only exists for some of the prompts but intrigues me maybe I slap it into each other with Star TYDE the Wellness Cruise/Hotel Surfer Alternate Universe...

If I really write the three stories my resume will read Ryde Tyde and Slyde.
Single characters are interesting enough to revisit them if possible that so far have only a minor role in the WIP

2333 AD London has some amazing beach clubs but Arkham isn't much interested in them. She prefers flying in her training Shuttles testing her skills.
2324 AD Kira and Anika where in the earlier stages of their Alliance training and had a lot of fun on weekends or on vacation, including bar brawls (which are staged entertainment for tourists and interested folks) but most of the times they focused on relaxing with friends.
2335 AD Kira, Arkham and Ashlei relaxing alongside the rest of the crew on an occasional Birthday party or Karaoke evening or whatever the crew comes up with to get on with their lives and relax.
Okay parts of Ash "relax" in the sense she parts resources to socialize with the crew while the Ghoz'Tarc itself keeps scanners up all the time and Ash Monitors everything.

578 How does your MC behave around strangers?
Kira Knox: Cautious but friendly.
After all as a soldier of the Alliance you are trained to deescalate stressful situations but also defend the people in need, if necessary. So she keeps an eye out for unusual situations.
Arkham: Same as Kira but a bit more scruff, she doesn't small talk at all with strangers if it is not necessary and she rarely sugar coats anything if the person she is talking to isn't a child, but even then not more than necessary.
Ashlei: Have you ever seen a 178 ish meter Spaceship among other people?
On board, if strangers are around she mimics the helpful Service AI.

Since the whole thing is still work in progress at least that's what I imagine.
Her homeworld could be current earth or at least a city like New York, Munich or Tokyo in the near future with some Aliens injected into the mix.

580. How many drafts do you usually go through?
I am trying to keep track of my changes, as some might know or have an idea about how I structure my answers here on Mastodon, but, I am an agent of chaos in non digital places and tend to have a giant folder named download on all devices... Followed by download sorting one, two..., so every time I make changes I create a new document with the current date.
The actual documents im writing on are called StarRyde Draft 000.001 [Date] so I have no freaking idea but I will move to draft 000.002 someday, probably if I reach some arbitrary threshold I set up. But atm I'm not really writing more than prompt answers and try to figure out the shape of the Ghoz'Tarc and make it not look like a forking D!©]<.
Next time humanity evolves get some neutral connectors that look same on both sides.

"Can I have another one?" Anna held up an empty whiskey glass, the barkeep was a Bethosian, her ears opened & turned towards Anna. Bethosians have wide variety of skin tones between light gray & dark purple, depending on their age & emotional state, so she stood out in the other wise Terran bar. Her nose slit opened - a tiny tentacle like appendix slid out to test the air.
Her wide spaced eyes narrowed on Anna. "That was your 9th glass, don't you think you head enough?"
"Book got rejected, need to celebrate."
"Celebrate the rejection?" The barkeeps slim, 4 fingered hand grabbed the bottle that Anna almost cleared on her own.
"Means I am free to write what I want & do what I want, true freedom."
The amber colored liquid filled the glass.
"Wheren't you free before?"
"Now I got it framable." She smilled a sour smile.

Anna made a very determined 'exactly that' face as she pointed with the glass in her hand towards the barkeep.

The counter is on the house, the tip is free, the ten glasses are 20 Creds."
Anna waved her hand over her Holo, the bill showed up, with a slight circling motion of her hand she paid it.
"Absolutely worth the money, best apple juice I ever had."
The Barkeep smilled.

Move on, it's maybe hard to not get mad or not to punch through a wall in anger, pain or disappointment, but you have written a book damn it. That is a big step and a big piece you can be proud of.
Your story hasn't to be for everyone and the net makes it possible to find readers, writers and a like.
Take what you need from critique, talk about it with other persons if necessary and remember your writing is yours, others may not like it but than the work is maybe not for them, if you do your thing others will be impressed and people will stick to it. If it the rejection hurts let this feeling be a inspiration for another story or a part of the story in which rejection plays a part or a painting. Use the energy for yourself as an resource. Your are still allowed to cry and yell but don't dwell on it for too long. Their are so many other people out there.

Mondira: more thankful than pride but a bit pride is their, being on board the Ghoz'Tarc, being part of this Union/Alliance Crew and mission as someone from the most adversary Rimworlds that usually dump all over the Union and where called upon by the Union as the least wanted ally.
Her Brother, who has a hard time fitting in, standing up to the family and still holding contact with his sister.

583. Which of your characters are most likely to be activists, and what kind?
Most of them aren't but you could ask everyone on them why the Union is a great thing but that's it.
The thing is they trust the Union to best provide equality as needed, it doesn't make sense to grant a non oxygen breathing & water allergic species the human ground right to clean water. Sentient Skywhales don't need housing in the same way Terrans or Talithi need them. Instead their ground rights are tailored to their needs. As an example in contrast, a gender specific need is granted to the whole species, if someone don't need it's free sanitation products or similar they can spend them to whoever they feel like. This together with the war against the Eltaryn makes it relatively unlikely that people try to actively change stuff, however there are people but most likely outside of the military. Mayne Mondira could be considered one.

AJ:"Isn't it quite an ironic question to ask a person with my level of memory fracture, what they would like to be remembered for? I will most likely don't remember it myself & honestly I don't give a moist, deranged swex. I will make them pay, I will ensure that they won't hurt anyone ever again, they will stop or end. That's a promise I gave & the one of the things I can remember!"

585. Would your MC sacrifice something (of great importance) to save the life of someone they love?

Kira:"It would be a poor choice to sacrifice the future of the Union, the lives of citizens or non citizens to save a small amount of people. That said I hope I never have to make such a decision... But if my sacrifice would make sure that others survive I would consider it as long others don't have to carry my decision."
Arkham:"They asked me this as I enlisted, I agree en large with Kira, as the main pilot of the Ghoz'Tarc my decision influence the rest of the crew as long I don't risk their lives or their well being, I would sacrifice my life to save others especially the ones I hold dear."
Ashlei:"For such scenarios I am programmed to evaluate the costs & benefits. As the ships AI "my own" sacrifice would be less problematic as sacrificing "my" body. The ship needs to survive."

Mondira:"With all do respect Captain don't tell me 'Terrans' don't feel pride, I heared a lot of swex about Terran and us 'Rimworlders' but you can't tell me that you got rid of basic human emotions last time I saw medical reports we where still the same species."
Kira:"That is partially incorrect, we share our DNA & our roots but culturally very distinct. For us that call themselves Terran we do this because we originated from a world that was dying thanks to humanity, thanks to wars, thanks to the Eltaryn. As mentioned before humanity is a tribal concept one we got rid off to better our selves & step up to the stars, to take a role as defenders."
Mondira:"I don't want to say it but in my eyes that's a superiority & empty pride talk if I ever heard one."

587. How much does your SC value communication in their relationships and / or friendships? Are they prone to being misunderstood?
A lot.
In the Union open, honest & straight communication is the key. Little is "spoken through the flowers" (German Saying for a polite metaphor). All 6 core species had to learn this which was especially hard for the Asza'ni. Aszal their most native language is a language that in its style is more like a song or poem. It leans heavily on connotation & picture plus the right scent. A sentence like "feiend look a moon rise" would translate word for word into "my hunting mate feast your eyes upon the beautiful children of our benevolent forelders." And depending on the meaning the right amount of enzymes to create the right scent for the meaning. Aszatrell is the basic standardized combined language of the Asza'ni & the Trellwa'ni who don't communicate via scents.

589. Do you use any writing tools or software?
2 Android phones & a Windows PC.
The old android phone, is my notepad the current I actually work on.
Libre Office on the PC & sadly I am stuck atm with 360 Co pilot (used Kingston Office before but it turned into add hell on my phone) libre Office doesn't run well on my phone for what ever reasons.
Co Pilot will surely be replaced with something different on my new phone. I bought an app called Solid Explorer for Android years ago because it is a real simple & powerful organizer/file explorer for Android that allows me to open two different tabs in landscape mode to drag and drop files between them. Because Android & it's iterations started to p][ss me of with their limitations. 360 Co Pilot it is only because the former 360 office ran well & didn't started to stutter while using it also the text to speech helps me to find typos. Can't tell how many times I listened to my WIP since last November.

Well they would come together in a big pile. This situations are called Pinguining by the Brass, but since Pinguins are gone Dodo in 2086, Most people have no idea what it means especially outside Terra if Terrans barely know.
It's not uncommon for persons in the 24. Century to cuddle. There are even cuddle meetings/cuddle clubs etc they range through all layers of society and there are simply contact once, skin contact once, naked once and even some involving consensual sexual activity.
On board the Ghoz'Tarc the lines between fellow soldier and private person are very thin Doctor Kaiden and J. regularly cuddle despite both having no romantic or sexual interest in each other. Since Rose, Talisa, Anika & Kira where all together at the academy & at different points to-

2/2 gether with the same partners it's still common for Rose, Talisa, Kira and Anika, til she wants M.I.A. and occasionally J. to cuddle but it's barely enough space to that private outside the captains quarters.
Of course Arkham & Kira cuddle together later in the story. The machine room crew has a cuddle ritual to introduce people (like a sports team). Mondira isn't used to such close bonds since she comes from a pretty much cyberpunk dystopian world. Some crew members even have pure Sex meetings with others. Nobody is forced into this, and if they don't like cuddling, like Arkham at first they get their space. Sex of course is only allowed in the social units (diverse container modules installed for this mission) or quarters if given.
Ash as a Spaceship/AI can't interact the same way but Kira starts to gently touch her consoles on occasion, since they are pressure sensitive.

590. How does your SC go about expressing or not expressing their sexuality?
Mondira is the only one that might feel a bit weird onboard the Ghoz'Tarc. Since everyone seems super chill about their sexual or romantical identity. Her homeworld (the cyberpunk unbound capitalist dystopian Rim World) has laws for equal treatment regardless of gender identity expression, ethnicity, species or sexual identity but this laws are relatively new & where implemented to get a trade deal with some trader Union worlds done that are on the brink of getting associated members. Not that the society doesn't supports it but their is a large chunk of forever yesterday people. So she is not used to being openly about her bisexuality. She still can't believe that the captain is so open about everything, which is one reason she has developed a crush on her. She warms up a lot but it is still a bit uncomfortable.

591. How do you handle research?
Not sure I would call it that, I am interested in a lot of topics and often I just read, listen or watch stuff from the fields I'm interested in.
I have on occasion phases of hyper focused themes. But I don't look up stuff until I'm sure I know to less of something to depict it than Google it, use other engines too to see what comes out, watch some trustworthy feeling YT channels about this topic and read Wikipedia or other articles I come across others would call it research for sure but I also do this stuff for fun if I'm interested in a series as an example add on top that I seem to have a good but very selectional memory, not gonna lie covid has done some damage to that.

The number is YES.
Obviously ones like the Enterprise project and that approximately all of our stories exist in the Star Ryde universe as well I aim for 300 PPM Puns (& Eastereggs) per minute, without braking the fourth wall.
We will see how this will work out.

593. How does your SC feel about their appearance and personality? Would they change anything about themselves?
Confused looks throughout the crew as they read the today's psychological evaluation questions.
Not really, most of them already look how they want to look and are happy as they are.
Since the Union provides general base/ground income and most people work for general high base minimum wages on top, it's not a problem to look or live like you want.
And since medical bills don't exist, because the Union grands general in depths medical treatment, everyone can afford genetic modifications for hair and eye color, like Arkham did for her green and blue hair.
For the crew: Everyone is happy enough, about their looks even Mondira who comes from a non Union world.
If you want a rocket leg go for it. If you want a tentacle arm instead talk with your doc or a body modder.

Kira:"Not in general but I have my points that anger me easily. A long as Persons behave decently I don't see a problem. J. uses to call me Dragon Lady. I guess it fits all ia well as long you don't anger the dragon."
Arkham:"My Alliance Advisor used to say that I don't have anger issues it's only an issue if I'm not angry. I still don't understand what he ment.
I don't like hiding emotions or if emotions get hidden from me. It's complicated takes energy and leads to misunderstandings."
Ashlei:"I am sorry but this question can't be answered, a computational error occured. Sub core sub matrix cluster 4-HA sector L-3.8472/Delta. Hangardoors will be opened in 60 seconds to vent hostile bio mass.

595 How does your SC feel about your MC’s temper or lack thereof?
XO 1 L.Jenkins:"I respect the Captain, she & our former Captain Anika Johanson have a similar style, which is to be expected after all they where... Are sisters & where raised as such. Captain Knox seems to lack Captain Johanson's passion since we lost her. Before she was at least as passionate as Anika. I guess it has to do with her merge with Ashlei. Usually I would take control if the acting Captain is emotionally compromised but Kira doesn't seem unfit... It may be her training as a Shade. If she wouldn't show any signs of compassion, like for Arkham, Jennifer, Rose, Talisa, Mondira or any other Crew member, I would argue she is unfit for duty. However so far she really pulls us together like few other could & she didn't stopped the mission. Still I'm unsure if this is a good sign. But in case of emergency XO Troika & I stand ready to take over."

Ashlei: She is the Ghoz'Tarc despite being a spaceship with holographic & chameleonlike outer hull cloaking systems,she looks like a mix of the Normandy SR2 from Mass Effect & The Alliance Rex from Star Trek Online.
Which is a combination of the federations Defiant class & the Jem Hadar Bug Ships from Star Trek Deep Space Nine, plus a bit of the Pathfinder class, also from Star Trek online based upon the Voyager from Star Trek Voyager.
Thanks to her holographic cloaking she can look like a freighter or every other ship in SciFi/Fantasy (yes including the Black Pearl from Pirates of the Caribbean).
For my Humanoids Kira has natural bright red hair that she dyed blood red, a scar over her left eyebrow down to her cheekbone that spared the eye her eyes are heterochromic one appears dark violet. Her hair is asymmetrical cut similar to fem V. (Cyperpunk2077)

597. Tell us about your MC’s style of dress.
Kira wears most if the times her standard issues command uniform. Privately she often just runs Tank top/T-shirt and comfy pants.
Arkham has modified her uniform to a lowest practical and inacceptable coverage of skin, since she can't stand it if her skin, especially the parts that transfer pilot seat information are covered. She o ly gets away with it because she is that damn good as a pilot and gets worse if she uses a pilot suit. She looks like Lara Croft was her clothing advisor.
Ashlei/the Ghoz'Tarc is a space ship.
She sports a dark design with mostly black on missions, hints of red, blue, yellow and green are visible on occasion. At dry/port she sports the usual chearfull bright colors with white and grey of the Union. Since her outer hull is chameleonlike and she has a holographic system build into her shield/point defense system she can switch to everything in seconds.
Only smaller vehicles are hard.
598. Pick one of your favorite SCs. If they were to die, how would this impact the story as a whole? Would the plot change dramatically?
Don't know since the story is still a 10.000+ pieces here on Mastodon a evolving WIP on my phone and not much more.

2/2 A rattling hissing joined the sound of its 'breath' as the body started to dry up and turning grey. It's most outer carapace broke giving insight into a greyish, fast drying goo. The body looked like broken stone, before it completely turned into greyish sand that was carried away by the wind. Only the slight feeling of steering into an abysmal mind remained on the group of Terrans that had fought it.

601. Choose one of your SCs you’ve never spoken about. How would you describe their facial features?
I rarely describe much most times it's the eyes and hair color maybe some noticeable features
L.Jenkins, he is in his early 30, is at average height, has black and white hair (colored asymmetrical) he has greenish yellowish eyes. They are shiny despite his very by the books behavior there is a bit of prankster energy in his look. His nose was broken several times & gives his otherwise almost soft look some remarkable contrast. He often wears glasses while reading or while working so its not the first thing you notice. If you look close enough you can spot a mark of an grown out piercing.

602. Think back on the SC you discussed last night. How do they dress?
Jenkins on duty he wears a flawless pristine command uniform of the alliance. Off duty he looks like an average hip hop meets goth person.
Clearly comfort oriented and in bright colors and black. His favorite outfit is a bright pink baggy pants and a sleek black tanktop. He has a bit of war with his body hair. He is one of the few Terrans that can't be treated with genetic hair removal (body hair for Terrans isn't a big deal for most but some, especially in the army prefer not having much) so he goes to great lengths to use an epilator and laser therapy which grants him around 2 weeks of hairless perfection how he calls it.
At least the Doctors don't need to force him for genetic samples for medical testing. On occasion Dr. Kaiden even helps him with unpleasant and badly reachable areas. J. offered him help but he doesn't trust her in that regard.

Handwriting in the 24. Century has become rare at least as we know it. Digital writing often is done with the fingers or a fingernail on a holographic display. Usually with the middlefinger similar to how we hold pencils today or vus typing. As members of the alliance every soldier needs to master Silver Lining a cursive handwriting usually for ceremonies like signing of documents of significance.
Usually every one in a room including the guards have to sign it if it ever comes into legal question and for the accuracy of historical retelling. Like Union Standard Silver Lining has many influences from the member species and no one today would be able to read it. Silver Lining has a lot of similarities to Japanese Calligraphy. If done correctly every document with SL on it is a black piece with silver ink that's where the name stems from.

2/2 Silver lining is adequate but not very special, her usual Handwriting is done with a stylus and occasionally with her fingers. Since she started origami folding she also printed a permanent metal pencil.
She tries her best to keep it readable.
Arkham's mother forced her to undergo "proper etiquette" training so she had to learn writing with real ink, which she hated, her version of Union Standard looks more archaic than most others. Imagine it more like someone writing today's languages in a Nordic Runic style her Silver Lining in comparison would be considered Calligraphic Art.
Ash doesn't have hands but she can print and display all existing fonts and writings of every known civilization. And if atmospheric flight wasn't so problematic (the Ghoz'Tarc is 176 meters long) she could write beautiful cloud words.
Sadly gravity and other forces have something to say about this.

Kira: She trust's her gut feeling & decision making, so pretty much, of course she requests, reevaluate her decisions afterwards & there is a limit to it, but she isn't in a leading position for no reason. She can put the doubts away til it's time to handle them or they stash up to a giant pile in threat of collapsing.
Arkham: As a pilot and the Flight Commander of this ship, Arkham doesn't often asks herself about her decisions on the job. Left, up, right down, accelerate, brake sounds easy enough and to a degree it is but throw gravity streams/wells into the mix, space combat and material composition of a ship against bending and tearing and there isn't much time to think. On a personal level she is way less secure.
Ashlei: Ash isn't programmed to doubt her abilities, she is programmed to increase her efficiency.

Kira has some secrets, one is a very large body tattoo that only few know to it's full size.
Why she wears dark make up.
Why her shoulders & neck are always under tension. She doesn't speak about what happened as she lost her troup on her first command mission. After all it's in the files accessible for the ones that are authorized to read it. She hides her pain very efficiently or how much she can influence Ashlei's system by now.
Arkham keeps some minor stuff for herself, and makes a big deal out if her project in one of the containers.
Ashlei is not programmed to lie to the crew. She wasn't programmed to rewrite her logs & their is a core program she isolated away, even from Kira.
And then there is the sub core "the driver" between Ash and the Ghoz'Tarc.

Today is a weird day (mood swings) and for the life of it I don't feel like answering this question today. If I try to find AI or AJ in my thoughts I just get headaches. So I skip this ...
0.43 How does your MC best recharge their spirit?
Kira: for her it has to be fitting for her current drain.
On some occasions it's simply punching her punching back til it almost bursts other times it's sex or cuddling, it can be real honey toast from that antique toaster (who some claim to be a demon or spirit watching over her) or cooking for the crew. Sometimes it's remembering her biological family or the good times with lost ones, shooting practices, a good portion of sleep, dancing or just chilling with the crew in between shifts folding some origami to sneak it into someone's cloth or belongings (as a minor reminder that she can be sneaky and now's how to reach unexpected locations).
Arkham grows to enjoy time with Kira alone, just talking to others, tinkering with her pet project in one of the containers or to her horror later on dancing.
Ashlei 'loves' to improve her filing of data.

I could but I rather not cross the line of AI and hi's/her's/them's/it's henchfolk.
AI hasn't set up this whole spiel about themselves and only operating through agents and devices to have that spoiled before I even have written the story.
And for AJ they most likely wouldn't remember anyway and are still alive so it could be made a case for they don't seem to have one.
The Eltaryn don't speak any language we know of or that is translatable so nope either.

610. What are the most significant sounds we hear in your WIP? For example, it could be the sounds of nature or the noises of a bustling town.
The Hum. Each ship has its own tune combined front the frequency the engines vibrate, the energy reactor or the magnetic restrictions sound. Space itself it's not entirely silent. There is material out there in what we call the vacuum and it can transmit sounds but it's not enough to be heard easily. The constant hits on the hull and the shields give the hull a vibe too. Usually you get used to this low frequency sounds quickly, if the dampeners don't work it can become distracting however usually it is overwritten by the noises of the peop inside the ship.
Somwa Ovate Ra'inbo had a group of musicians make music onboard of dampening ridden ships. It was quite eerie and unworldly.

I can relate to all of my characters.
On different levels & on different angles, but even my cannibal in Fallout 76 has relatable attributes for me. I'm a vegan & so I project my feelings of eating animal products onto her + a bit of madness from the Cthulhu Mythos, Harley Quinn from Batman, Jynx from LOL/Arcane (or at least what I red/looked up) & my anger from the days a s a victim of organized mobbing.
AI has my innerst wish of staying anonymous, my feeling of something has to change & my point of view that "if you want to have something changed, do it," which I unshackled from my ethics.
AJ relates to me on a different level.
Not for my GI but for my memory which works very selective. Car crash? Almost erfect recollection of the events. Telling a loved one something close & personal. Repeated 8× & don't remember 1.

Absolutely if not the house at least the lockers of crew members but to her/thems defense. Silas is a mother in her private life with a chaos gnome of daughter and the security chief onboard the Ghoz'Tarc.
Sometimes you need to confiscate smuggle goods like " real Lightsabers*"
*Which is a common phrase for non accounted food or restricted private stuff onboard Union and Alliance ships. Something has to stand on the papers even if someone sneaks on their private Sex toys or a box of restricted ale for cooking or getting boozed.

I struggle, the 6 Core worlds of the Union and the Eltaryn are quite good developed as far as it goes or seems necessary.
Mondira's home planet has a clear vision but still lacks a name.
The 66 associated members aren't as far developed as I want them to be and I thinking of using them on occasion only as a joker card to have some Alien no one expected. While few already have a concept (one are sentient plants and another sentient Fungi)
Same with Rimworld Societies (if you need an Idea on how different the worlds are, look for a map of Germany, look for Bundesländer and than for Landkreise as a map, or American Districts). I have plans for some region and factions in the Ghoststars and beyond. But for now I focus more on the 6 core members and their societies, clothing, worlds and languages.

Nighttime mostly but I shifts drastically from time to time atm I'm not writing at all and try more getting into drawing again oh and of course not getting mad with the world. So plenty of old school media consumption on VHS and DVD/Blu Ray or 2000-2015 games.
