Nice, just a small fix and #phosh's compositor #phoc runs with #wlroots #vulkan renderer on the OnePlus6T. This needs some more work regarding e.g. alpha blending but it's already usable.

WTAF how is #gtk getting n_planes = 1079097857 (consistently the same number across executions) from eglExportDMABUFImageQueryMESA when trying to export a GdkGLTexture containing a #wlroots gles2 rendered scene? 0.o

Wait, that's not just some random number, that's the low 32 bits of the modifier field!!

OHHHH SHIT it's not mentioned in the extension spec at all but with current Mesa code, modifiers is expected to be AN ARRAY of per-plane entries. The spec only says that the stuff passed to the next step eglExportDMABUFImageMESA is expected to be arrays. #egl #mesa3d #dmabuf

@benedikt reported some issues with #xwaylandvideobridge and #phosh and it turned out it uses _NET_WM_WINDOW_OPACITY which was proposed > years ago to be added to the wm-spec (https://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/xdg/2003-December/001413.html) but never landed although Qt, GTK and others use (or used) it.

That just changed (https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/xdg/xdg-specs/-/merge_requests/97) and we also already have #wlroots support now too so phosh can happily use it too.

But maybe I'm the only person that finds this kind of archeology exciting .

Over the past few months, I’ve seen posts about the new #NVIDIA open driver performing well on #Wayland. Since I'm that poor guy with an NVIDIA chip on board (RTX 2070 Super), I had to test it out. So where are we now?

#SwayWM 1.9 still flickers under both #GLES and #Vulkan renderers, likely due to its use of the 10-month-old #wlroots 0.17.

On #RiverWM 0.3.5 (wlroots 0.18), however, things are much smoother! Vulkan flickers occasionally, but GLES works damn good!

#COSMIC actually supports text input #wayland protocols :)

That means I might try it out for prototyping fixes.
#wlroots was dropping memory errors for years after my initial contribution of those protocols, so #Rust might be a breath of fresh air.
