THE STATE OF #FLORIDA BANNED the poem #AmandaGorman delivered at #Biden's inauguration in 2021.
I'd love to ask #Trumpsters if they believe there was anything "Vulgar" or "Offensive" about America's youngest-ever "Poet Laureate"s poem that justified a state-wide ban?
Did it contain profanity? No. Racist or offensive language? No. Promote violence? No. (All stuff T**** is guilty of.)
You can tell a lot about a society by what they fear/ban. #Fascism
Happy Saturday to y'all!
"When day comes we step out of the shade,
aflame and unafraid
The new dawn blooms as we free it
For there is always light,
if only we’re brave enough to see it
If only we’re brave enough to be it!"

Amanda Gorman's poem "The Hill We Climb" is on my mind. I feel we're at one of the steep and difficult parts of the hill, almost like the hole just appeared l, and we're going to have to crawl out of it to begin climbing again.

Poet and activist Amanda Gorman took the stage at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago on Wednesday, delivering a powerful message on the fight for freedoms, from democracy to reproductive rights.
Gorman, the former National Youth Poet Laureate, recited her poem "This Sacred Scene," celebrating the historic possibility of Vice President Kamala Harris becoming the first woman of color to serve as U.S. president.
Text of the poem:
We gather at this hollowed place
because we believe in the American dream
We face a race that tests if this country we cherish
shall perish
from the earth and
if our earth shall perish
from this country
It falls to us to ensure that we do not fall
For a people that cannot stand together
cannot stand at all
We are one family regardless of religion class or color
For what defines a patriot
is not just our love of Liberty
but our love for one another
This is loud in our country's call
because while we all love freedom
it is love that frees us all
Empathy emancipates
making us greater than hate or vanity
that is the American promise
powerful and pure
Divided we cannot endure
but united we can endeavor
to humanize our democracy
and endear democracy to humanity
And make no mistake
cohering is the hard hardest task history ever wrote
but tomorrow is not written by our odds of hardship
but by the audacity of our hope
By the Vitality of our vote
Only now approaching this rare air
are we aware that perhaps the American dream is no dream at all
but instead a dare to dream together
Like a million roots tethered branching up
humbly making one tree
this is our country
from many one
from battles one
our Freedom's sung
Our Kingdom Come
has just begun
We redeem this sacred scene
ready for our journey from it together
we must birth this early Republic and
Achieve an unearthly Summit
let us not just
believe in the American dream
let us be worthy of it
thank you

The line that absolutely put me on my knees tonight of course came from the soul of a poet:
“Perhaps the American Dream is not a dream at all — but a dare. To dream together.”
