You can register #XMPP account for free on xmpp.social for example.
However, my consideration is to also offer a #Mastodon installation on this domain (or something else for the social web).
Problem is: either you will have two separate accounts or I need to move the existing accounts over to my LDAP server and connect both services via LDAP.
Separated accounts will have the challenge to prevent that two persons register the same nick on both sides.
What would you prefer?
@ij Ich trauere immernoch unserem #XMPP Server am Institut nach. Schön, dass sich noch welche für #XMPP engagieren! Leider scheint das XMPP Ökosystem insbesondere was die Deskop Clients angeht zu erodieren. Der brauchbarste MacOS Client (#AdiumX) wird seit Jahren nicht mehr gepflegt. Kennt jemand eine brauchbare Alternative (nicht Konsole).
@boeckmann Für macOS gibt es BeagleIM und Monal. Auch beide sehr brauchbar.
@boeckmann Einfach bei Beagle Command+2 druecken und schon sollte das separate Fenster mit den Kontakten aufploppen.
Ich hab bei mir das Kontakt-Fenster auf dem Desktop und das Chat-Fenster im Full-Screen Mode zusammen mit meinem iTerm Fenster parallel auf einem Screen.
BTW: dass Du hier auf nerdculture.de auch einen XMPP dabei hast, weisst Du?
Danke, ich teste es. Den Spruch "Privacy like it's 1999" von der Monal Website kann man aber auch missverstehen 
@ij Das mit dem nerdculture XMPP Account wusste ich nicht. Aber ich habe es jetzt als Account im Beagle IM eingerichtet
