Setting up #BlueBubbles for a few contacts that couldn't handle options like #Signal wasn't worth it.
@getgrid private encryted cross platform live location among friends and family, wish it worked over veilid.
Unfortunately GrapheneOS is the only option if you need serious security and privacy, limited to Pixel hardware. Banking apps do work, which isn't always the case with microG.

The only bug I’ve encountered so far is the need to temporarily disable 2 factor authentication in order to sign in with the desktop client, but other than that, it’s working!

Reminder, if you have an old mac lying around (my 2012 #macmini works), you can use it as an #apple #imessage forwarder with #bluebubbles (https://bluebubbles.app/) and have imessage on all your android and windows and linux devices. It's been bulletproof for me so far, and a 2012-ish mac mini can be had for $50-$75 if you were so inclined

@claudiom They're not saying up front why it matters:
Blue bubble in iMessage means it's E2E secure, green means it's SMS, can be spied on by carrier, pigs, anyone with a stingray device.
It's incredibly stupid/dangerous to have green bubble people in a group chat where you might talk about something like sex, drugs, or rock'n'roll. In some countries that can get you imprisoned or killed.
RCS isn't secure, the carriers don't care, Google doesn't care.
