Wait, what?!! #SenatorSusanCollins is actually concerned?!!!

Sen. Collins' bill would return #tariff control to Congress

April 8, 2025

"Maine Republican Senator Susan Collins is looking to reign in tariffs by reasserting congressional control.

"A bill she's sponsoring, backed by some Republicans and Democrats, requires a president to explain reasoning and impacts of new tariffs within 48 hours and all new tariffs would expire after 60 days unless Congress approved them.

"Senator Collins writes: 'The unilateral imposition of tariffs by the president without congressional oversight undermines Congress’ constitutional role and can have serious consequences for American workers and businesses.'

"The bill appears to have little chance of getting through the House side or if it got that far, overriding a certain presidential veto."

From 2008 South Park episode, "Canada On Strike" (very prescient!)

Stephen Abootman: "Canada deserves more money!"
Economics Minister: "You don't seem to understand how global economics work."

Excerpt from Plot:

"When 'Canada Appreciation Day" in the US is mocked and doesn't bring Canada the respect its' citizens believe it deserves, the leader of the World Canadian Bureau, Stephen Abootman, leads a nationwide strike of Canadians to garner respect and more money, without actually specifying how much they want and for what reason they would need it. They demand, 'some of that Internet money' from other UN nations, who are completely confused, but are denied."

"Trump argues, but that just means more oceanfront property! Win-win!

Believe it or not, #Trump is #wrong again. If you have a defined area of land that’s surrounded by water, an increase in the height of the water means that it covers more land. The result is less land touching the ocean, not more."
