I'm new here. Here's my #introduction. 🌱

My name is Mim; I live in a tiny apartment in a tiny village amongst the fields and farms of rural #Nebraska.

I love sewing, drawing, playing the piano, baking, and crafting. I'm doing the #OdinProject with my daughter to refresh and relearn web development, the newest challenge in my life.

I believe in #manners, #creativity, #honesty, #positivity, #humor, #kindness, and #imagination.

I look forward to meeting you! 🌱

Disturbed by the "funding may lapse" messages on regional climate center websites. This one is on the High Plains Regional Climate Center website at the University of Nebraska, but others (Northeast, Southeast, Midwest) have a similar message.

The Northeast Regional Climate Center has the date of June 17, 2025 for possibly becoming unavailable.

The Western Regional Climate Center does not have such a message. Hmmm.

Farmer from Nebraska in emergency camp for migratory workers during pea harvesting says "I put mine in what I thought was the best investment -- the good old earth--but we lost on that, too. The finance company caught up with us, the mortgage company caught up with us. Managed to lose twelve thousand dollars in three years. My boys have no more future than I have so far as I can see ahead." He had been on the road a little less than a year. Calipatria, Imperial County, California

Right now, the Sandhill Cranes are moving back to fields adjacent to the Platte River. At and just after sunset, they'll fly from those fields into the Platte to overnight. I watched them last Monday & Tuesday evening, and it was mighty impressive. We're past peak, but you can still see and hear flocks fly in the distance. It should get better around 8pm CDT. I'll post some of my own vids from last week soon. In the meantime, #CraneCam is good to watch right after sunset when the cranes come in; and just after sunrise when they slowly leave the river.

"I scoured the news for reports on the more than one thousand other rallies. Of course people would show up in the big cities & the bluest places, but what really exhilarated me was to see the turnout in reddest America--#Utah, #Nebraska, #Missouri, #Indiana, #Iowa, #Idaho--and small communities not known for their #protests...

some early estimates say well over three million people showed up."

Some in #Nebraska’s federal delegation push back on #NWS DOGE cuts

Last month, the Trump administration cut 1,000 jobs at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, or NOAA, which includes the National #Weather Service. Those cuts reached home when NWS Omaha and other Great Plains offices recently announced pausing the deployment of #weatherballoons after the department cuts.
