Jetzt habe ich mal Jottacloud 100 GB Speicherplatz abonniert - über den Apple App Store um lediglich 99 Cent monatlich. Das sollte ausreichen, um einen genaueren Blick darauf zu werfen, ob es als Cloud-Speicher für meine Fotos in Frage kommt. Klappt das nicht, dann kündige ich wieder und probiere es mit Zeitkapsl.

For everyone interested: #jottacloud's CLI tool runs just fine on #synology DSM.

You got to choose your fighter from https://repo.jotta.cloud/archives/linux/ , unpack everything and run the install.sh file to install the jottad-daemon.

You might need to adjust the user in the service file but then you are basically good to go.

Camera Upload bei diversen Cloudspeichern.

#Dropbox, #pCloud und #kDrive laden zwar Fotos hoch, aber in ihren Apps zeigen sie im "Foto"-Tab dann einfach alles an, was ein Foto sein könnte. Also auch alles aus allen möglichen Ordnern.

#filen und #Jottacloud hingegen zeigen im Foto-Tab nur Fotos aus dem Camera Upload. Die haben ganz offensichtlich für 2 Cent nachgedacht und sehen nicht alles aus purer Datensicherungsbrille.

I've been testing Jottacloud, aiming to find a replacement for my family iCloud setup.

I didn't find quite that, but I did find a true gem with a well-designed CLI tool for niche platforms, Apple TV app and overall good vibes.

If you show people the fun in using alternatives to #BigTech then I have a feeling they'll be more apt to switch.

It's how I switched the handful of friends and family who stay in contact with me to #Signal and how I'm slowly motivating myself to move the rest of my stuff to #Protonmail as well as #jottacloud and eventually an alternate Android OS.

I think going from #Dashlane to @bitwarden will be the final push in a month or two.

I'm using #Jottacloud for backing up stuff and syncing between computers and phones. It kinda works badly sometimes, especially on Linux where they only have beta software (and only headless). So do you have any suggestions?

I need:
- backing up of files to remote storage
- a sync folder
- being able to share files publicly with a link
- Windows, macOS, Linux (GUI & headless), Android, iOS
- separate user accounts with shared sync folder
- prefer EU & smaller company to US & bigger company

Weiß jemand, ob #Crashplan eine versteckte Bremse in seinen Backupplänen hat, wie #Jottacloud?
Sprich: Wird ab einem bestimmten Datenvolumen heimlich oder offiziell die Bandbreite reduziert und damit quasi eine Obergrenze des Backupvolumens forciert?

Ansonsten erwäge ich tatsächlich einen Umzug von Jottacloud zu Crashplan, denn im Test funktioniert das ganz gut.

Ich habe #Crashplan vor Jahren den Rücken gekehrt, als sie sehr plötzlich den Privattarif terminiert haben.

Mit #Jottacloud war ich bisher recht zufrieden.
Aber die aktuelle Produktpolitik ist doch etwas besorgniserregend.

Inzwischen scheint Crashplan Professionell durchaus wieder interessant zu sein.
Nutzt das jemand?

Interestingly (not) enough, a few days ago my verification script started barfing out errors.

I've finally had time to do an indepth check and ... well.. it's not pretty.

Index files were corrupted (ok, I can rebuild those), but a bunch of data packs seem to have gone away as well.
