“I’m delighted to announce #PeterThiel is joining #YC as one of the (now 10!) part-time partners.

In addition to founding #PayPal and #Palantir and being the first investor in #Facebook, Peter has been involved with many of the most important #technology companies of the last 15 years, both personally and through #FoundersFund, and the founders of those companies will generally tell you he has been their best source of #strategic #advice.” — Sam Altman, 2015.

Compare the sign on blog post (Altman) to the tweet (pg as shown).

When you take capital from #Thiel, then only realise a decade later it wasn’t a good idea. At the time when this was announced I thought, “Oh shit #PG, don’t do it”. Then history.

It’s the lure of capital. You get covered in the deeds of these shitty founders (Thiel) and you have to back track, knowing it was blood money.

#Thiel embraced #Trump in 2016, speaking at the Republican National Convention, donating $1.25 million to support the campaign & even working alongside #SteveBannon on Trump’s transition team. 2 of his associates came along: #TraeStephens, who worked at his venture firm, #FoundersFund, & #BlakeMasters, COO of #ThielCapital, who would later run for the US #Senate. Another #PayPal & Stanford Review alum, #KenHowery, served as Trump’s ambassador to Sweden.
