Conserving power is a theme, when living on a boat.

After a day of boating, you'd think it's OK to stop the engine right away. But sometimes it needs to keep running, to power electric devices that draw more than the boat's batteries and inverter can provide.

Some appliances draw a lot of electricity—a washing machine, iron, vacuum, toaster, microwave oven, electric chainsaw. I run these one at a time.

For reference, I have asthma, joint pain, social anxiety, and depression.
Exercise is great, yeah, but ADHD and capitalism make it difficult to schedule, plan for, adapt, and undergo.
The parasomnia means I can't guarantee being rested enough to drive to class on time.
I think technically you're not supposed to cycle either, if you're not rested / sober enough, but I take mild issue with that.
A bicycle is NOT capable of causing as much damage as a damn car, even a tiny Smart ForTwo car.

(Obv this won't help if you have severe joint issues, unsafe roads, or lack storage for it, but still. Fantastic commute option, personally. Just needs a rain canopy that somehow survives harsh English winds and we'd be laughing all the way to the bank. Of a very pretty river.)
