I did something cool with dynamic TSQL today. I'm hoping to have some 'fun' with it tomorrow.

Gutes Wissen mit/über/in #Oracle #Datenbank nötig. Je mehr dann auch noch von #PostgreSQL und ggf. #patroni bekannt ist, desto besser. Umgebung auf #linux.
#Festanstellung ist das Ziel, #Freischaffend ist weniger gern gesehen (ja, ich weiß, da gibt es auch viele gute).

Me: I always find these "future of the DBA" articles a little puzzling. The guidance they offer almost always makes me think out loud "I've been doing this for more than a decade. Is no one else doing this too?" History repeats itself with this article.

Toad for SQL Server looks like a full-featured management tool for database administrators that can probably do most of what SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) does.
But Toad is Windows only. Damnit!

DBA confession time:
I dropped a database last week that was still in use. Another coworker had informed me the database was no longer in use. I submitted a ticket to drop it. The ticket was approved by another person. And I proceeded.
In all, that makes three of us that were at fault in some capacity.
As for me, I could have run a simple query or two that would have told me the database was in use, and that it should not have been dropped.
But I didn't.

Nach 20 Jahren im Data Warehouse-Bereich (#ETL, #Analysen, etc.) wird es jetzt Zeit für einen Jobwechsel (befeuert durch eine interne Umstrukturierung): Ich wechsle in den Nachbarbereich zu den Datenbank-Admins. Die bisherigen Kenntnisse bzgl. #SQL und #PLSQL werde ich nur teilweise anwenden können, dafür habe ich genug Neues zu lernen. Und ich glaube, das tut mir auch mal wieder gut. Und das neue Team (kenne ich eh schon) ist cool drauf.
