There were four different dials with the same text in French, Italian, Romansh and Swiss German. All were limited editions of 499 pieces each. Michael Gisiger 📷On my wrist today is my <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/Glycine?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Glycine</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/Airman?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Airman</a> with a white 24h dial. The Airman is a true pilot's GMT watch, launched in 1953 (then with a Felsa Bidynator movement), two years before the Rolex GMT Master. It was also the first watch with a crown for fixing the bezel (patented by Glycine). The Airman was officially issued to US pilots (both fixed and rotary wing) during the Vietnam War. It is also an unofficial space watch, as in 1966 Cmdr. Pete Conrad brought it along with his official Omega Speedmaster on board Gemini 11, where he wore both watches on both wrists. Michael Gisiger 📷We are having some friends over for New Year's Eve, so today I am wearing a mechanical 18-carat gold tank by Jean Zurbuchen from La Chaux-de-Fonds from the 1980s. It's only 23mm, but for a rectangular watch, that's as small as I go (it's 34/35mm for round watches). You may be familiar with <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/Zurbuchen?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Zurbuchen</a> if you like <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/Breitling?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Breitling</a> Navitimers: Zurbuchen was a watchmaker with the original Breitling, but left the company before it was bought by Ernest Schneider and opened a watch shop of his own. He then bought a stock of Breitling parts and created the first <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/Navitimer?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Navitimer</a> with the calibre 7735 under his own name. Inside is an ETA 2894-2 movement, a welcome change from the 7735. It also has a screw-down crown and was very well made. Not sure if I should keep it or not.
