Guillaume Etter<p>Novice question for my fellow (<a href="https://fediscience.org/tags/cognitive" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>cognitive</span></a>) <a href="https://fediscience.org/tags/neuroscientists" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>neuroscientists</span></a>, from someone who has only worked with animals and models: what are the regulations around <a href="https://fediscience.org/tags/humansubjectsresearch" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>humansubjectsresearch</span></a> on <a href="https://fediscience.org/tags/opensource" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>opensource</span></a> repositories? Can anyone dig through the data freely (like for animal research - provided patients/subjects gave their initial consent and data is anonymized)? Or do you need to request institutional approval every time the open source dataset is accessed? Do you recommend any guidelines, references?</p>
Nick Byrd, Ph.D.<p>What&#39;s the difference between microtask platforms like <a href="https://nerdculture.de/tags/mTurk" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>mTurk</span></a> or Prolific and market-research panels?</p><p>CloudResearch recently published an <a href="https://nerdculture.de/tags/openAccess" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>openAccess</span></a> paper that explains. (The paper also includes a step-by-step tutorial for using their &quot;Prime Panels&quot; in conjunction Qualtrics). </p><p><a href="https://doi.org/10.1177/25152459221140388" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">doi.org/10.1177/25152459221140</span><span class="invisible">388</span></a></p><p><a href="https://nerdculture.de/tags/humanSubjectsResearch" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>humanSubjectsResearch</span></a> <a href="https://nerdculture.de/tags/researchMethods" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>researchMethods</span></a> <a href="https://nerdculture.de/tags/surveyMethodology" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>surveyMethodology</span></a> <a href="https://nerdculture.de/tags/Psychology" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Psychology</span></a> <a href="https://nerdculture.de/tags/CogSci" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>CogSci</span></a> <a href="https://nerdculture.de/tags/xPhi" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>xPhi</span></a></p>
Dr. Scott (math geek) Dueker<p>So upset with myself. I didn't complete an IRB application for a survey study I wanted to do with my math instruction course. I collected pre-test data at the beginning of the semester with the intention of writing up the results after the post-test at the end. Oh well. At least I can use it as the template for future semesters. <a href="https://mastodon.au/tags/AcademicMastodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>AcademicMastodon</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.au/tags/PhDLife" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>PhDLife</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.au/tags/HumanSubjectsResearch" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>HumanSubjectsResearch</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.au/tags/SurveyData" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SurveyData</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.au/tags/MyBad" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MyBad</span></a></p>
