sergio_101<p>So, I created a little script that will take a <a href="https://social.sixdegreesofohio.com/tags/TaskPaper" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>TaskPaper</span></a> formatted file and create <a href="https://social.sixdegreesofohio.com/tags/jira" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>jira</span></a> task, complete with sub-tasks and descriptions for each task. I just need to set it up to create the root task inside a project, and I will be happy.</p><p>I had to cobble together a parser for TaskPaper, as the current library (which looks awesome, BTW), was throwing a bunch of errors.</p>
sergio_101<p>The only bummer was, there was a really good looking <a href="https://social.sixdegreesofohio.com/tags/TaskPaper" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>TaskPaper</span></a> parser, but i think it was for a previous version of <a href="https://social.sixdegreesofohio.com/tags/python" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>python</span></a>. I imagine I could get it working, though.</p><p>I ended up asking <a href="https://social.sixdegreesofohio.com/tags/ChatGPT" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ChatGPT</span></a> to create a TaskPaper parser, and it created one that is good enough.</p><p>Maybe I'll use that as a basis for a new one, but i'd rather help the author of the original one get it working.</p><p><a href="https://tastic-for-taskpaper.readthedocs.io/en/latest/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">tastic-for-taskpaper.readthedo</span><span class="invisible">cs.io/en/latest/</span></a></p>
sergio_101<p>One thing i hate about setting up projects with <a href="https://social.sixdegreesofohio.com/tags/Jira" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Jira</span></a> is setting up tasks. It's slow, and tedious, and if it requires any input or approvals from others, it's maddening.</p><p>In my quest to work more with <a href="https://social.sixdegreesofohio.com/tags/python" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>python</span></a>, i created a script that will input a <a href="https://social.sixdegreesofohio.com/tags/TaskPaper" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>TaskPaper</span></a> file, and create Jira sub-tasks from the tasks with notes.</p><p>Putting a <a href="https://social.sixdegreesofohio.com/tags/qt" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>qt</span></a> interface on it using <a href="https://social.sixdegreesofohio.com/tags/pyside" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>pyside</span></a> 6 now.</p>
sergio_101<p>Wondering if I could write a little desktop application to do the following:<br>- Parse <a href="https://social.sixdegreesofohio.com/tags/TaskPaper" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>TaskPaper</span></a> text (from <a href="https://social.sixdegreesofohio.com/tags/omnifocus" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>omnifocus</span></a>)<br>- Export that project data to a <a href="https://social.sixdegreesofohio.com/tags/Jira" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Jira</span></a> task as subtasks via their API.</p><p>That would be so helpful.</p><p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.omnigroup.com/@OmniFocus" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>OmniFocus</span></a></span></p>
podiboq<p>I am a big fan of <a href="https://social.lol/tags/TaskPaper" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>TaskPaper</span></a>, but unfortunately, the lack of a good iPhone app has forced me to stop using it 😢. <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.social/@jessegrosjean" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>jessegrosjean</span></a></span> can we even dream about it?</p>
Tim Stringer<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.macstories.net/@macstories" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>macstories</span></a></span> Thanks for another great episode, <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.macstories.net/@johnvoorhees" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>johnvoorhees</span></a></span> and <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.macstories.net/@viticci" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>viticci</span></a></span>!</p><p>It's worth noting that <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/OmniFocus" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>OmniFocus</span></a> has a cross-platform plug-in architecture; I use plug-ins daily (I shared some of my favourites here: <a href="https://learnomnifocus.com/plug-ins/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">learnomnifocus.com/plug-ins/</span><span class="invisible"></span></a>). Shortcuts support is also good.</p><p>Also, <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/TaskPaper" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>TaskPaper</span></a> is one approach to a transportable, text-based syntax for tasks and projects. It would be great if most task managers supported this (or something similar).</p>
Ellane ·𐑩𐑤𐑱𐑯<p>My notes are <a href="https://pkm.social/tags/PlainText" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>PlainText</span></a> first, <a href="https://pkm.social/tags/Markdown" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Markdown</span></a> second. They're highly portable between platforms, apps, and devices. <a href="https://pkm.social/tags/macos" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>macos</span></a> and <a href="https://pkm.social/tags/ios" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ios</span></a> are my weapons of choice, but they'd look and work the same on <a href="https://pkm.social/tags/android" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>android</span></a> and <a href="https://pkm.social/tags/Windows" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Windows</span></a>.</p><p>They aren't <a href="https://pkm.social/tags/Obsidian" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Obsidian</span></a> notes, or <a href="https://pkm.social/tags/Logseq" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Logseq</span></a> / <a href="https://pkm.social/tags/iaWriter" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>iaWriter</span></a> / <a href="https://pkm.social/tags/tangent" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>tangent</span></a> / <a href="https://pkm.social/tags/TextEdit" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>TextEdit</span></a> / <a href="https://pkm.social/tags/Nota" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Nota</span></a> / <a href="https://pkm.social/tags/AnyType" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>AnyType</span></a> / <a href="https://pkm.social/tags/Taio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Taio</span></a> / <a href="https://pkm.social/tags/TaskPaper" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>TaskPaper</span></a> / <a href="https://pkm.social/tags/vsCode" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>vsCode</span></a> notes, though I can use any of those apps as a lens to view and work with them.</p><p>They're wild, and free. Ellane ·𐑩𐑤𐑱𐑯<p>Geeky excitement!!</p><p>I've been trying to get a handle on <a href="https://pkm.social/tags/productivity" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>productivity</span></a>, projects and tasks in <a href="https://pkm.social/tags/Obsidian" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Obsidian</span></a> for a couple of years now, and it's finally happened!</p><p>*drumroll* I've successfully integrated <a href="https://pkm.social/tags/Taskpaper" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Taskpaper</span></a>/Taskmator into my <a href="https://pkm.social/tags/ObsidianMD" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ObsidianMD</span></a> vault!</p><p>todo.txt is cool, but it doesn't allow for extra info to be associated with tasks. In Taskpaper I can add wikilinks to the main project page, and all tasks and sub projects move as one when dragging and dropping to rearrange. Swoon!</p>
