‘Unbound’ is both important and imposing as a black metal album in 2018 for its undeniable melodic scent and violently classic expression. It is poignant reminder of the effective thrust and utter nihilistic furor that black metal holds without complication or feigned modernism.
I know you are the replacement crown. No denying your place in the sky. I won’t pretend to not acknowledge the lovely glittering of your infinite windows as I walk past.
But I still miss our twins.

WTC, NYC.
Born and raised in NYC, and being a skateboarder for most of those years, the Twin Towers were always a kind of navigational landmark (not to mention a fun place to skate as well).
We all know what happened. And while I can appreciate the new guy, my heart still misses the original towers.

Here - because I've now found it - is an image of the Observation Deck, on Tower 2 (South) just across and slightly below Tower 1, from where this was taken (closed to the public; no guard rail).
In the foreground is the track which was used by an automated window washing machine.

An dem Tag war ich gerade in eine Videothek, der Inhaber hat Nachrichten laufen, und ich suchte einen Film. Nebenbei hörte ich was vom Flugzeug das ins WTC geflogen ist. Mein erster Gedanke das klingt spannend, was für einen Film schaut der sich an. Es dauerte einige Zeit bis ich realisierte das ist kein Film das ist real.

TIL that Minoru Yamasaki who designed the World Trade Center #WTC was born in #Seattle to Japanese immigrants and went to Garfield High and the UW.
He designed the Science Pavilion for the World's Fair in Seattle in 1962, that became the Pacific Science Center #PacSci (the nation's 1st science & tech center, also TIL).
He also designed the Rainier Tower.
Fun fact: law required that the Fair's buildings be used as govt warehouses after the Fair. Yamasaki said no.

At the 9/11 Memorial park. I thought it was time I see it, since I was reminded by the beams of light in the night sky last night.
I thought maybe the cloudy day would be appropriate, too. I was right.
The majestic WorldTradeCenter's awe-inspiring architecture reaches towards the expansive sky as it stands proudly as the centerpiece of the image.

I commuted past #GroundZero and #WTC for years and I remember thinking how much emotional damage everyday commuters were suppressing on a daily basis.
Eventually, it will be another “day that lives in infamy”, but, to your point, a couple generations away.
Täällä ei taideta tietää tai muistaa, että olin New Yorkissa työmatkalla kun kaksi tornia romahti lentokoneiden törmättyä niihin. Se on kokemus, joka ei minulta unohdu koskaan. 11.9.2001. Kävimme torneissa katsomassa maisemia ja ihmettelemässä niiden korkeutta 9.9.2001. Näimme hotellin ikkunast a kun toinen torni savusi ja toisen seinä yhtäkkiä räjähti.
Jonkin ajan kuluttua katsoimme TV:sta kun tornit romahti. Olimme alunperin varanneet huoneen hotellista, joka oli lähes tornien vieressä. Onneksi se jouduttiin muuttamaan ja olimme vähän kauempana.
Poliisi tyhjensi koko hotellin ja ihmettelimme mitä tapahtuu. Kun lähdimme hissillä alas hissi juurtui. Oli tosi jännä tilanne. Juuttumista kesti noin 5 min.
Myöhemmin näimme kuinka paljon ihmisiä käveli moottoritietä pitkin lentokentän suunnalta..
Hotellit olivat ihan täynnä ihmisiä matkalaukkuineen.

Ja, das war's. Der #Nahostkonflikt eskaliert. Das zerstörte Krankenhaus - egal, wer für dessen Einsturz nun verantwortlich ist - wird für die arabische Welt so etwas wie das #WTC sein. Die Aussagen der Hamas und der anderen werden viele aufhetzen und es wird im ganzen Gebiet und in den israelischen Gemeinden auf diesem Planeten Chaos geben.
Ein ohnehin schon nicht ganz ungefährliches differenziertes Betrachten der Situation wird ab jetzt wohl kaum noch möglich sein.
Tod. Leid. Trauer.
