We recently bought a slightly used Subaru Outback. The salesperson described it as "Basically a large, rolling computer." Which goes a long way toward explaining why the owner's manual is thicker than the Bible. But hey, I learned how to turn off the feature that shuts off the engine when you're at a full stop. It sounds like a good idea until you actually have to drive one. And the steering wheel stops responding, and the air conditioning starts to fade and the whole car lurches when it restarts. But I love the car.

I miss the day where you could glance to the centre of your windshield, move your eyesight slightly downward, and see all the important switches, such as temperature control, fan speeds and directions, defroster, etc. With the screen for CarPlay or Android Auto, manufacturers are moving these controls so far down that I fear for my safety when I’m trying to turn up the heat. Can’t we have both? #firstworldproblems #smartcars #carplay #androidauto #rant
