Hi, my name is Wouter and I am an artist, designer & cartographer specialized in fantasy storytelling and tabletop gaming. The Voyager’s Workshop is where I help tabletop players, creators and publishers tell their stories, with a focus on fantasy maps, illustrations and visual designs.
A lot happens during the development phases of a fantasy map so don’t feel intimidated if things feel vague at the start. It’s an ongoing journey and once it’s complete, the real adventuring will begin, for GMs and players alike!

I have spent several days researching how to get Dungeondraft and Wonderdraft running under Linux, fearing I wouldn't be making more maps anytime soon (plug for my kofi, maps are free there) aaaaaaand... turns out both have a native Linux implementation. Thank you Megasploot! I was blind. By far the best tool to make TTRPG maps out there.

Working on a fun commission for a regional map of a home brew setting.
This week saw the release of Dark Deity 2, a fantastic turn-based CRPG by Sword & Axe LLC. They commissioned me to create the map of Verroa, a lore rich fantasy world that proved a prefect fit for my approach to map making! Such a fun project to contribute to!
A fantasy map is a useful tool, not just for players to chart their journey but for GMs to bring their home brew world to life!

WIP. Progress, finished the Moriomoto Domain and the villages around Ehnaiton.
I know, comparing the two maps alone, there is not much change, just some more dots, here and there. But, each of them has numerical meaning.
How are your gaming opportunities looking for the weekend? Are you dwelling deeper into a long running campaign, or will you be charting new adventures?

I tend to say that mapmaking is a separate hobby from ttrpgs, but... At the same time, I don't think I fully believe it. When preparing for next session and drawing out all those small villages and tiny rivers, the whole history of the place, the NPCs who live there, how they relate, becomes clear.
No matter if you are prepping your next adventure or getting to play with your group, any opportunity to spend time with our tabletop hobbies is reason enough to celebrate! Wishing you great times this weekend!
