Interesting. These aluminum plaques came with a plastic coating one side. The side without the plastic has a gold tint, but the side with the plastic is more silver.
It’s odd that my test crosshairs came out slightly different colors. I’m thinking multiple passes (which is what the numbers mean on the silver side) might clean up that gold tint. It just wasn’t an issue on the other side.
I had alignment issues with this. So I’m thinking I should drop a piece of wood in, laser out a hole, and then drop the metal into it.
It’s not *exactly* what I want, but it’s close. It’s real close.
I’m satisfied with size and the layout of the flight data recorder manufacturer plaque as well.
I think this is good enough.

Needed a knitting palette cleanser, so knocked out this new pattern - The Emotional Support Little Chickie, a pocket-sized comfort fowl.
Mistakes were made. And that's OK... at least the safety eyes are kinda even. Now that I know the ropes, I think I might make several to surprise-gift to people here at the nursing home.
The child-like instant joy it brings to others is everything!

The best part? My cost for manufacturing the boards and shipping them to me in Canada (from China), with all applicable duty and taxes included, brings them out to about $1 per board.
I may try other designs at some point. But I can't see myself going back to the uber-expensive ones that are commercially available.
I can't wait to try one of them!

I glued the bubinga fingerboard to the #bass neck this afternoon. The hard maple neck is reinforced with 2 (probably overkill) carbon fiber rods and a truss rod. Inlays and side markers are Total Boat #epoxy with Black Diamond Pigments for the blue/green color. Its 2 MHz CPU and 160×144 pixel dot-matrix screen were every kid’s dream in 1989, but using it as a car dashboard is pushing it. To bridge that gap, [John] designed two custom circuit boards.
One interfaces with the Game Boy, intercepting its memory requests and feeding it data from a microcontroller. The other processes the CAN bus signals, translating speed information into a form the Game Boy can display. Almost finished! I just need to glue the sections together and I think I can call the hardware side of this project done and dusted!

- not that PLA didn't do the job, that one lasted a fair while. It's just because the PETG was already loaded up on the machine
