With all the public fund cutting for non-profit open web advocacy organisations (in this case Internet Archive) and subsequent calls for donations, something that makes me deeply uneasy is that they’re all headquartered in the US.

It doesn’t feel good at all to funnel donations to the US, even though the organisations are doing good work.

At least with Wikimedia some funding goes towards their decentralized local chapters. But Signal and Internet Archive are 100 % US-based.

The major record labels have filed a lawsuit against @internetarchive that threatens the very existence the Internet Archive itself, including the Wayback Machine.

They have created a petition asking the record labels to drop the lawsuit. It only takes a moment to sign it.

We need to preserve our media history.
