“A few months before the General Election, Lucy Powell MP, now the Leader of the House, talked of Labour’s commitment to “doing legislation better”, with “better planning, better drafting and better scrutiny”.

The Henry VIII powers contained in the Bill mean the DUA Bill [UK] fails to deliver on those commitments. It must be amended so that it does.”

🗣️ Tom Brake – Director of Unlock Democracy.

Todistaako X:n tietovuoto Kuolleen Internetin Teorian todeksi? 👉 youtu.be/9uh6VsTtONc

Is this stuff more obvious than I think - or is it so under-the-radar-unsexy that industry practice is just not very good?

One thing I want to be 100% clear on about this: they are NOT required to do a tracking popup. They want you to believe that they are so you'll be angry and demand that privacy laws go away.

Specifically, they are required to ask permission before using tracking. They could... just not use tracking by default, then they don't have to ask. There literally could just not be a popup at all and the site would be legal -- if it just simply didn't track you.

Access to domain registration data is neither timely nor uniform. In today's Interisle Insights post, Colin Strutt shares the challenges that law enforcement, first responders, and researchers face in collecting even the “non contact registration data” elements to identify where cybercriminals acquire resources for their attacks.
