The big difference with Open Mandriva Linux is you do not need to use the terminal to enable non-free firmware, drivers, or media codecs.
You simply need to open the app called, "Software Repository Selector" and check the boxes for the repositories you wish to enable. Once done, you can open either the store app or dnf dragon, for example, and install whatever you need.
It is point and click, easy.

Today was oddly quiet in #fedora land.
The calm before the F42 Final freeze tomorrow?
* Messed up a discussion user, but managed to fix everything.
* Looked at https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2356237 but puzzled, and it's not happening anymore.
* Swapped out atop for btop on a bunch of machines.
* Moved ~2TB of f42 GA composes to archive
* Updated some bz api keys
* Caught up on various emails and pr's and issues.
* Tried to catch up on my rss feeds. I'm under a thousand now. Caught up to last thursday. :(
From a simple user point of view, if you have used Fedora, you will be familiar with Open Mandriva Linux.
Both use RPM packages and Dnf package manager. You can even download and install 3rd party RPM packages, for example, I installed iVpn directly from their website.
Their "Cooker" build is comparable to Fedora's "rawhide". Their "Rome" build is comparable "Fedora Release". Lastly, "Rock" is comparable to centOS.

Hi folks, I'm trying to jumpstart federation on my little gotosocial instance and get a more full feed of things to read and interact with.
I could use your help. If you could boost this, I would appreciate it. If you see this and favorite it, I will follow you if your interests seem to align with mine.
I'm not asking for follows... rather I'm asking for you to help me shout out into the ether that I'M looking for people to follow. My main interests are going to be hashtagged below.
By the way, the way hashtags work here is that currently, if I search, I only see what my server is already knows about... which would mean just the folks I follow, since I'm a single-user instance. Not very helpful
I will also be using one of my apps that can load the main feed from other servers, to see if I see something interesting. If you see a follow from me and come here to check me out... I mean you no harm and I come in peace.
Thanks all!

I've been looking at my toolset and trying my best to lessen my dependency on Apple for hardware and the ecosystem for my day-to-day. My issues with waiting for a proper Linux laptop to surface are still there but until I either break down and buy a Framework 16 or something else comes along i've been palling around with an old Thinkpad P52s running Fedora/Gnome. Surprisingly, i'm impressed with Fedora and with some minor modifications to Gnome, it's relatively usable. My dislike for Gnome shell is waning and using Javascript for configuration annoys me but otherwise it's usable on an almost 6 year old laptop. Librewolf and vertical tabs are nice, nvim setup is working well and even with this age it handles my main benq rd320ua well enough. There are still some issues that annoy me, long gone are the days of working on configuration or writing patches to make things just right but toolset wise, not bad. #gnome #fedora #linuxlaptop #librewolf

I will be at #KubeCon / #CloudNativeCon in London this week.
I'll give a workshop on Wednesday with @tormath1 on how to use and build systemd system extensions (sysexts): https://kccnceu2025.sched.com/event/1tcxe/contribfest-extending-image-based-systems-using-systemd-system-extensions
Feel free to reach out if you want to chat about Fedora CoreOS and running Kubernetes on it, Openshift, Fedora Atomic Desktops, Flatpaks, KDE or anything else .

I've been using Fedora as my primary desktop OS since the "Fedora Core" days. The behavior of Red Hat under Mike McGrath prompted me to distro hop for the first time in about a decade, but I'm just too comfortable with Fedora and went back. I could get used to something else, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
My two primary OSes are Fedora and NetBSD. I think this may be a combination that's unique in the world, lol. Curious to know if there are others :)

I want to throw out a big #HotDamn to 20 years of #softwaredevelopment . I recently bought a used #Behringer #BCF2000 which had a #SysEx editor last developed in 2004 in #Java available for download from the official website. I downloaded the software to my #Fedora system and it recognized the device over the modern #Linux #USB interface and worked like a champ.
Well done, 20 years of #software develoment and backwards compatibility!

I should have made this poll multi choice. I have two depending on use: Fedora for desktop/laptop & Debian for servers.
What’s your #Linux distro of choice? Comment if a different one than the four in the poll.
I'm in love with uv. Seriously, the tool is small yet packs a punch with features.
I'm writing an article for Fedora Magazine about the cool things you can do with uv, here is the source code (with the article in markdown) for your enjoyment:

Looking for a distro I can install on my mother-in-law‘s laptop. So it has to be easy to use and needs a good App Store / flatpack integration. Thinking about Fedora with KDE or Kubuntu.
Has anyone here tried out the Cosmic desktop from System 76? What are your thoughts?
Fedora is releasing a Cosmic spin, and I'm tempted.
