Bit late to the party, but after the election in Finland I was a bit nervous as the local right wing party seemed pretty active especially in the places like my old rural home town. They had very well aimed campaign in some areas, basically towards disillusioned rural area people who no longer think politicians care about them. But at the same time they had so many incredibly stupid public takes that they suffered a notable beating.

Voting in general however frustrates me at times. I have my own candidates for each election and I keep track of what they do, follow their blogs and social media to see their opinions and their voting behavior in various topics. I don't expect everyone to overdo it like this, but I still expected people even look up what the candidates represent.

A discussion on Reddit revealed I was not alone to see people deciding their candidate in the damn voting booth, by looking at the candidate name list on the booth wall. Fine way to run democracy.

With Ken Paxton running for the U.S. Senate, the race is on to become the next Texas attorney general. State Sen. Mayes Middleton of Galveston has made a strong start in his bid for the Republican nomination, political analysts say.

Houston Public Media · State Sen. Mayes Middleton of Galveston enters race for Texas attorney generalBy Andrew Schneider

New Mexico peeps - here is info about statewide local elections that are coming up in 2025...not just info about your particular county, but how the various types of races are set up and how they will look on the ballot.

I'm doing this to help boost civic engagement, voter education and registration and other good stuff.

If you want the 2021 NM Election Proclamation for the entire state (8MB pdf file), or an excerpt of your county...email me at tom.krajci@gmail.com

=======================

What local election races will be held in 2025?

The official answer won't be released until about August of this year. The NM Secretary of State will release their Proclamation for the 2025 RLE (Regular Local Election). That document will describe every race in the state, sorted by county (alphabetically).

But I'm providing an excerpt of the 2021 Proclamation that is 99% correct. (More on that in a bit.)
