🤬 #SCOTUS allows #Trump officials to freeze #teacher training grants over *#DEI*

A divided #SupremeCourt on Fri cleared the way for the admin to at least temporarily freeze up to $65M in #educational grants designed to address #TeacherShortages, which the govt says fund programs that promote #diversity, #equity & #inclusion [as they should, though the Trump admin’s definition of DEI is humanity].

The Washington Post · Supreme Court allows Trump officials to freeze teacher grants for nowBy Ann E. Marimow

"Der Oberste Gerichtshof hat am Freitag der Trump-Administration erlaubt, 65 Millionen Dollar an Zuschüssen für die Lehrerausbildung vorübergehend auszusetzen, von denen die Regierung behauptet, sie würden Initiativen zur Förderung von Vielfalt, Gleichberechtigung und Inklusion fördern - ein früher Sieg für die Administration vor den Gerichten."

#NorthCarolina's #Republican majority Court of Appeals sided w/the GOP candidate in a suit contesting last year's State #SupremeCourt #election.

The decision could result in ~64k ballots being thrown out, handing the election to the Republican instead of the Democratic Justice who won.

The case will likely be appealed.

@ianbremmer speaking as a man who sold his soul, #republican party, #democracy, over the course of decades of dis-service to constituents and all #Americans who have suffered because he was bought & owned decades before #trump. #neverforget this is the man who served the will of extremists and #fascists to seat #supremecourt justices so #unethical, incompetent and venal, that our #democracy and the #judiciary will never recover. Time is long past to pander to the rich & powerful. #FreeAmerica

"The administration is increasingly asking the #SupremeCourt, which Trump helped shape by nominating three justices, to step in, not only to rule in its favor but also to send a message to federal judges, who #Trump and his allies claim are overstepping their authority. ...
The government argued that individual judges lack the power to give nationwide effect to their rulings, touching on a legal issue that’s concerned some justices before."

The Texas Senate passed a bill that would require people to provide proof of U.S. citizenship to register to vote in state elections. It would effectively require the state to prepare one ballot for federal elections and another for state elections.

Elon Musk spent $250 million to buy a national election for Donald Trump. He attempted to buy another election to fill a vacant Supreme Court seat with $25 million in a single state election.

Wisconsin told him a resounding "NO!" that he cannot buy another seat of power.

"Let that sink in."
