Doing #research on #crowdsourcing platforms is the closest thing to working in #customer #service as an academic. You reject a submission for failing attention checks, speeding through a 20-minute study in 90 seconds, and submitting absolute nonsense? Now they’re in your inbox demanding payment, insisting they “definitely read everything”, and arguing that your study is “literally broken” (you do realise I can see your data, right?).

Bestie, I’m an unpaid #PhD #student working with carefully budgeted research funding. I do not have the energy to fight over £1,50. I just want to wrap up this study, analyse my depressing data, and go home to lie face down on the floor for an unspecified amount of time. Please, leave me alone. #Prolific #SundayRant

Excited to share YEARS of research about how to get people to think reflectively and how reflection impacts philosophical judgments at the 2025 in (January 8 to 11): apaonline.org/mpage/2025easter

Continued thread

In a continuation of the #prolific thread you’ve all been waiting for….

Recap: we’re recruiting 800-900 people for a study over two time points on Prolific. 895 completed the last survey and we went live on the second at 8am this morning.

Survey takes about 3mins from other groups, but we budgeted for 5 minutes of their time at a cost of £1 per participant.

How many of the 895 will return?!

Running the first section of a 2-part study as my first experience on #prolific today. It’s a 15 min survey and we’re looking for up to 900 employed people based in the UK/US.

Here’s a thread to share my experience!

Based on a review of Prolific data (psyarxiv.com/mrvpg), I launched it today (Tuesday) at 8am (UK time). Set up was easy as the guides linking Prolific to Qualtrics was pretty simple to follow and it directs participants through the study.
