Standing in a stream
in the midst of a dream
during a turbulent storm

Zeus threw down
a mighty lightning bolt
that hit me with such a jolt
I lit up like a Christmas tree

After they scooped up
the ashes of me
my remains
were submitted to the breeze
for eternal disbursement

ALWAYS LIMITED
Limbo has its own peculiar
Emptiness; nothing behind, nothing
Ahead, a bright contradiction in
The darkness of depression, a powerlessness
In the face of decisions made beyond
Our grasp, injustices doled out by
Those who already have the means
Not to have to care. Our options are
Always limited by what surrounds
And traps us, so we are forever in this
State of constant motionlessness,
No matter how much we do.

Treasonous this

Traitorous that

Don't you guys grow weary
of this pointless hyperbole
which undermines your credibility
and makes it a practical impossibility
to take you and your hysterics seriously?

Can't we for once just pleasantly
agree to disagree
sans name calling acrimony?

I've been thinking about this for a while, especially as it was Earth Day this week. This was inspired by historian Peter Frankopan's book, The Earth Transformed, where he discusses how we're currently facing the Sixth Extinction.

Time for some optimism and connection from the Lone Star State. @TexasObserver shares a poem from Catherine Lu, “What Connects Us.” Here’s a section:

Is our love the horizon? A line where the sky
appears to meet the earth’s surface—
which means if you are the earth, then I am the sky—
which means if you are this house,
then I am the house behind this house,
