The lonely guy
clicked on temptation
for a quickie connection
with a cyber fantasy sensation
The naughty #website
gave him a virus
that could not be fixed
by a shot of penicillin
that cured such transgressions
back in my day
when stranger for pay sex
was a tad more personal
There are no
Prayers left in me.
The stars answer
Only in the cruelty
Of silence.
Standing in a stream
in the midst of a dream
during a turbulent storm
Zeus threw down
a mighty lightning bolt
that hit me with such a jolt
I lit up like a Christmas tree
After they scooped up
the ashes of me
my remains
were submitted to the breeze
for eternal disbursement
ALWAYS LIMITED
Limbo has its own peculiar
Emptiness; nothing behind, nothing
Ahead, a bright contradiction in
The darkness of depression, a powerlessness
In the face of decisions made beyond
Our grasp, injustices doled out by
Those who already have the means
Not to have to care. Our options are
Always limited by what surrounds
And traps us, so we are forever in this
State of constant motionlessness,
No matter how much we do.

The meek inherit
The parched desolation which
The bold created
Over and over
The humble are always left
To clean up the mess

Tomorrow 4/26 if you’re close to Anderson Indiana! A poetry workshop including poetry about motherhood and ekphrastic (one of my favorite forms that’s basically taking a piece of art and crafting a poem from it)

“No le pidas reposo, pues lo obtendremos algún día sin los dioses.
Lame sus grandes manos suaves, vaciadas por tantas limosnas,
pero si te habla, no le escuches.
No le escuches cuando te hable del largo sueño definitivo
que debe suceder a todas las cosas,
pues la amnesia no es la justicia,
y el término de nuestros males no impide que hayan existido.

He went out that night to seek revenge, thinkin’ he was bulletproof

There is time
Within no time
At all.
We are
As ephemeral
As shadow,
And as eternal
As stone.
Treasonous this
Traitorous that
Don't you guys grow weary
of this pointless hyperbole
which undermines your credibility
and makes it a practical impossibility
to take you and your hysterics seriously?
Can't we for once just pleasantly
agree to disagree
sans name calling acrimony?

I've been thinking about this for a while, especially as it was Earth Day this week. This was inspired by historian Peter Frankopan's book, The Earth Transformed, where he discusses how we're currently facing the Sixth Extinction.
Time for some optimism and connection from the Lone Star State. @TexasObserver shares a poem from Catherine Lu, “What Connects Us.” Here’s a section:
Is our love the horizon? A line where the sky
appears to meet the earth’s surface—
which means if you are the earth, then I am the sky—
which means if you are this house,
then I am the house behind this house,
You are so AWESOME !!!
As am I
for the recognition
and public admission
of your total AWESOMENESS !!!
Now I await your reciprocal affection
which truth be told
was my primary motivation
for such shameless groveling
seeking a worshiping
quid pro quo
