Here is the pastebin of my journalctl
pastebin.com/XBmCDfp4 (I had to cut out the beginning, hopefully it is enough)
pastebin.com/4EwzFWPX (One from yesterday)

Here is what I tried:
Tried two different nvidia drivers (555 and 560, both have this issue)
Ran memory test a few times, passed every time
Reseated GPU, RAM, CPU
Reinstalled Steam and games
Reinstalled OS out of desperation
Changed kernels
Monitored temps (all good)
Monitored RAM and VRAM usage (all very low on crash)
Tried Wayland and X11

I changed the PCI power cables on my PSU and it worked for a few hours, but now games are insta-crashing again.

Does anyone have any ideas? Please :3540_Aqua_cry:

Just upgraded from Kubuntu 24.04 to 24.10 and now my second hard drive isn't mounting.

I have one LUKS partition that is supposed to unlock both drives. The drive mounted at / is fine, the second drive (mounted at /home/cal) isn't.

The command sudo mount /home/cal gives the error:
mount: /home/cal: can't find UUID=abcdef...

Where should I look to figure out what's gone wrong and fix it, please?

Would anyone be able to help me with a Linux problem? For some reason when I am playing games, a random white box will just flash in the top left for a second. Randomly my screen will just flash white when I play games as well. It's getting really annoying! I tried Googling it but can't find anything since it's so vague.

I am using EndeavorOS (so Arch) and a RTX 2080Ti.

Edit: It’s fixed now, thanks everyone!

Ok, I am completely out of ideas trying to figure out why only some games aren't working on my desktop. Specifically, Windows and Source games.

TL;DR:

  • Not a distro problem
  • Not a DE/compositor problem
  • Not a Wayland/X11 problem
  • Not a multilib problem
  • Not a driver problem
  • Not a missing package problem

My desktop and laptop have the exact same software setup at this point, aside from the latter with secure boot enabled. The laptop is fine with all games. When games fail to launch on the desktop, they just stop; nothing in any logs that might hint at the source of the problem.

I've spent two weeks trying to figure this out. Last remaining suspicion (aside from hardware) is a breaking change in the kernel or Mesa, but I don't really have a definite time period to narrow down what commits to check.

I love #mastodon , but as I said before, it's not a good storage for knowledge, mostly because by default is not searchable, and I don't know if any web crawler is 'illegally'? scrapping masto instances.

Last week I suggested for #windows users wanting to try #linux to use the #LinuxSupport hashtag, but now I think it's just better to find any discourse instance, archived and searchable mailing list or at worse publicly logged IRC channel to find help.

Help, I'm getting this error message, can someone please tell me what to do?

Error: Transaction test error:

Folks, I need your help: Do you know of a tool for creating BPMN diagrams (Business Process Model and Notation) that meets the following two criteria?

1. is open source and
2. run under Linux

If you have any helpful hints, please let me know in a comment.

#LinuxMint was hanging out the boot logo. With advanced option, couldn't get it to boot, but then it booted into 5.15.0-56. And then I rebooted into 5.15.0-58 but hit <esc> to hide the logo, and it booted too quickly to find an issue. But maybe one of these errors is relevant to the previous boot failures?

Who's good at #Linux, #LinuxSupport?
