The old Esopus Spitzenburg tree. I think I transplanted it here in 2012, it was probably 3 years old from seedling if it wasn't just a root sucker if the other tree is grafted on a spitz root stock because it doesn't grow very fast either. So probably 15 years old. I haven't pruned it much if ever except to get wood for the grafts I did. It might be 10 feet tall now with a 4 inch trunk maybe.

A photo of an apple tree with blossoms. It is 15 years old or more and sort of small. It is growing on it's own roots and not grafted. It was damaged from ice buildup that split the right leaders as shown. They were screwed back together and sealed up when this happened probably 5 years ago now. The sky is blue with some small clouds. There is a small shed for animal shelter in the background and many trees and rocks in the landscape.

All finished! Five baby grafted trees getting ready for some healing time in cold storage.

The grafting ended up being a bit higher than ideal, but I'm happy with how the cuts turned out.

The varieties include things like Nova Easygrow and Northern Spy :blobcatcool:

White bucket with five long branches sticking out. The branches are rootstock apple trees. At the top, the branches have the tape where the scion wood was attached, as well as the tags with the varieties.

"This will be an indoor and outdoor event, so wear your woolies and come enjoy a warm drink, see old friends, meet new friends and bring home some #scionwood for grafting and s#eeds for planting!

"#Gardeners and #orchardists are invited to bring their seeds, #scionwood and #cuttings to share. If you don’t have any, come anyway!

"Community members and local seed growers regularly bring an incredible variety of vegetable, fruit, flower, and herb seeds. We also regularly have over 150+ types of scionwood to share, including scionwood sourced from MOFGA’s orchards. We will also have limited quantities of #rootstock for sale. Custom grafting is available by donation to the #MaineHeritageOrchard.

"Other items for sharing are welcome such as plants, cuttings, #seedlings, hatching eggs, #kombucha and #YogurtStarters, #salves and other #homemade items.

"The day’s offerings also include gardening workshops, #FruitTree care demonstrations, vendors, educational booths, and more.
