I like that #ForbiddenLands provides incentives to play older characters (more skill points, more talents, but fewer attribute points).

Seems likely to give you a group that looks more like the Fellowship of the Ring, and less like the latest young adult film adaptation.

Reading the #ForbiddenLands Player’s Handbook, because I’ve got this idea to run an open table, real world campaign of some sort this winter.

Maybe Forbidden Lands, maybe something else. But since I have the Swedish AND English versions, I’d love to pull in the Swedish names for things to give a Forbidden Lands campaign its own unique flair.

RPG A Day 2024 Day 13: Evocative Environments

#WorldOfDarkness, especially 1990s #VampireTheMasquerade & #ChangelingTheDreaming, did an excellent job writing immersive descriptions of their world. It was familiar, but their tone and writing really made it come to life.

I like #FreeLeaguePublishing settings as well, especially #ForbiddenLands and #MutantYearZero. They did an outstanding job with #Alien.

RPG A Day 2024 Day 12: RPG With Well-Supported Campaigns

People might expect D&D or Pathfinder here, but mega-adventures that take up all the character's playtime are not what I am looking for. I want short adventures that I can plug into my ongoing campaign. What they used to call modules, because they were modular.

#ForbiddenLands does a good job. It doesn't lay everything out, as it is a hexcrawl. Instead it is all modular.

RPG A Day 2024 Day 10: RPGs I'd Like To See On TV

Mutant Year Zero--Fallout without the retrofuture vibe, but with the addition of mutant animals.

Android: Shadow of the Beanstalk--(Post) cyberpunk with Latin American and African futurism.

Dungeon/hex-crawl fantasy, like Forbidden Lands.

I've been really diving into Free League games lately. My FLGS has a monthly RPG night and the theme this time is Indie Fantasy.

Really wanna run Forbidden Lands (because I just really wanna play FBL), but not sure it's the best for game store one shots introducing people to new games.

I might do it anyway.

If anyone has advice, I'd love to hear it

2) Forbidden Lands

I'm looking to shake things up with my long-time gaming group. We wrapped up a 5e campaign, and there's interest in returning to a fantasy setting, but I need a break from D&D. #Shadowdark is too similar mechanically. #DCC, too... along with the myriad #OSE B/X riffs. So, if you had to choose between Dragonbane and Forbidden Lands, which would it be? (I own both.) Or is there another I should consider? #ttrpg #dnd #dragonbane #forbiddenlands #fantasy
