I wrote a #community #tutorial on making your own web applications using the #Google #EarthEngine platform's #JavaScript API. A global gridded #airpollution (PM2.5) dataset is used as an example.

Here I cover basemap stylization, custom layer selections, inspectors, and basic data visualization.

#Urban areas modify local #weather and #climate and urban clusters have increased over time.

#Visualization below (using #D3) shows 15 countries with most urban clusters from 1992 to 2020 based on #ESA CCI land cover data.

#EarthEngine and #ArcPy were used for vectorization.

Been in Tri Cities, Washington for over a year and haven't examined any satellite data over the region.

So here is normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) for summer 2020 from #Landsat 8.

Those circular fields (in what is basically a desert) are apparently the result of center-pivot #irrigation.

Maps like this make me really want to dig into #earthengine.

Back to back storms hitting the #US west coast.

Based on #GOES18 infrared imagery.

Hourly total precipitable water vapor forecasts from #NOAA's Global Forecast System at the end of June 2022, slightly before the #monsoon officially reached the National Capital Region.

An updated version of the gif I posted a couple of days back, this time using #NOAA Global Forecast System data, which is also apparently on #Google #EarthEngine (thanks, @jstnbraaten).

The temperature forecasts start from 22nd Dec and cover the recent #winter #storm over continental #USA.

Anyone know how to extract road width data from open access remote sensing data? This repo shows it's doable for rivers https://github.com/seanyx/RivWidthCloudPaper and methods should be x-transferable Tagging #EarthEngine and #gischat people in the know!

A little late to this, but here is an animation of the development of the recent winter storm over continental #USA using daily minimum air #temperature from #GRIDMET.

TIL that there is a limit to how much you can scroll down the Asset tab on #Google #EarthEngine's #Javascript code editor environment. E.g. I know the asset is in my account (see Code Editor), but cannot reach it by scrolling down.

Have to either reorganize my repo or use #Python API more.
