Set in an old wooden building with clapboard siding, a doorway looks out onto a green field with distant trees. In front of the door is what appears to be the remains of a well pulley system: a horizontal wooden cylinder, with some frayed rope hanging from one end, juts out of a wall, while a wooden brace supports the turning handle at the other end. The contraption stands over a wooden platform with a trapdoor, presumably protecting a well underneath.

For #Doorsday: A door at the bottom of some stone stairs at Ephrata Cloister, from my visit to Lancaster County, PA. Jonathan Groff made a promotional video for this place (he has roots in the area), so, being fans of Groff and theater, we had to go. It’s a lovely, tranquil place with some fascinating history, and I recommend taking the guided tour if you’re ever there.

A short stone staircase, in an old building of wood and stone, leads down to a shadowed landing where a doorway - blocked off by railing - offers a glimpse of a sunlit brick-paved courtyard. At the top of the stairs in the foreground is a low wooden gate, worn down by weather and time.

So busy today, I don't have the time to make up a good #Doorsday pun.

Today's #door or rather #doors are not from a church, ha! It's from the old #post office in #Magdeburg. It's an impressive #historic building (built in 1895), not far from the Cathedral. Today it houses the Justice Centre, but a small part of it is still used as a #postOffice. The signs say "letters" and "telegrams".

The ornate entrance to a historic building, possibly a post office, is captured in a medium shot. The building's facade is constructed from light brown sandstone blocks, showing signs of weathering and age. For #doorsday and #fensterfreitag: I think these sliding glass deck doors and transom windows make a striking frame for the forest outside. These photos taken at different times of day offer a glimpse of the landscape’s changing moods.

#Doorsday's child has far to go ... all the way to #Córdoba in fact.

This is a lovely old #door from the Mosque-Cathedral or #Mezquita with details of #MoorishArchitecture. In fact, it's one of the oldest surviving gates of the former mosque! The door's decoration dates back to 855 when it was known as Bab al-Wuzara ("Viziers' Gate). Lots of Al-Andalus state officials used to enter the mosque here. The Great Mosque of Córdoba was converted into a Catholic #cathedral in the 13th century. It's a World Heritage Site since 1984.

A weathered stone facade, likely part of a historic building such as the Mezquita-Catedral de Córdoba, dominates the frame. The stonework is a light beige, showing significant signs of age and erosion, with varied textures and uneven surfaces.

This is my door for #doorsday today. I took a picture through the door of the Antonius Abtkerk, this beautiful church is located in the neighborhood where I live. It took me a while to figure out how this picture was taken. The picture is from 10 years ago from the time when my passion for reflections. Do you see it right away? I took a selfie here in (and through) the glass interior doors of the Antonius Abtkerk in The Hague. It's a strange photo because you only see the interior of the church where my image blocks the daylight. Around it, you see the other side of the street reflected in normal daylight. On the left halve of the photo you see within the contours of my image (only upper body) a long, vertical, marble, orange-yellow illuminated path, wide at the bottom of the photo due to the perspective and narrow in the distance. At the end of the path, at the height of my face and camera, is a large golden cross with behind it high, golden (by the light) pipes of a church organ. So you see in my contours exactly what I see through the viewfinder of the camera.

It's #Doorsday!

Here we have the front door to Casa Caccianemici in Bologna. Last week for window Friday I showed you one of its windows.
Some of the building dates back to the 13th century, other parts to the 15th century. It used to be home to the Passapoveri tower. "Caccianemici" means "to throw out/get rid of enemies" - so I guess as long as you are on good terms with the homeowners you're fine!

#Fensterfreitag oder #doorsday , das ist hier die Frage. Angesichts der Tatsache, dass man wegen parkender Autos nicht die ganze schöne Tür fotografieren konnte, ist die Entscheidung dafür gefallen, am Freitag das kleine Fenster zu würdigen. Kommt gut ins Wochenende!
