Today, as xenophobia grows its hegemony across the German political spectrum, the adoption of anti-refugee politics has served to accelerate the German government’s normalisation of the Taliban, in order to pave the way for mass deportations to Afghanistan.

The spectrum of crisis in Afghanistan is immeasurable. From food insecurity to gender apartheid; from the genocide of the Hazaras to the persecution of the LGBTQI+ community; from the forced internal displacement of rural communities to the erasure of culture and the arts, we continue to advocate: don’t forget Afghanistan.

Let us come together over food and short films, to talk about this accelerating normalisation of the Taliban, what we can do to challenge it, and how our struggles unite.

Shabnam Nasimi: 'Women in Afghanistan are being obliterated—no voice, no face, no existence. The Taliban’s latest decrees are nothing short of barbaric: women banned from singing, reciting poetry, or even speaking aloud in public. Their faces and bodies must hidden from the world.

This isn’t just an Afghanistan tragedy; it is a stain on the global conscience, brought about by our failure to act'.

The Lie That’s Our Truth: Life in Our Homeland

A few months after the fall of Kabul, the Taliban continued to impose new restrictive laws daily. On this particular scorching and monotonous summer day, everything seemed devoid of meaning. My mental landscape was steeped in an excessive nihilism.
