I do love those old official guide books that came packaged with some select #SNES classics.
And I’m not ashamed to say that I did take a look every now and then. Now where were all those red jewels again?
@yoakin Ah, Illusion of Time.
@OutofPrintArchive Had them too. In times without internet one of the few sources of good tips for a game. And so well made, very good quality and content. I loved the printed maps of whole levels like a big map. I always wondered how they do that. A photo of each screen and then stitched together?
@OutofPrintArchive @r3vilo Oh wow. Didn’t even know that. That sounds insanely tedious.
Always impressive the amount of care and work that went into these. Nowadays in most cases you don’t even get a proper manual.
@yoakin @r3vilo
You should hear some of the horror stories of how magazines were made in the 80's and early 90's before direct capture equipment was available.
Especially during the summer months.
Having to share what was basically a dark closet, with other magazine departments, a crt in there with a bunch of game systems, some sort of do it yourself contraption built to shield the screen to take all the pictures.
the heat, the humidity, the smells...
