Another #GoogleMaps vs #OpenStreetMap comparison. One of biggest entities of the world, with budget surpassing many nation states vs bunch of quite loosely gathered individuals ~~working~~ playing on their free time. Another reminder who's the stronger side, if we only manage to get off our collective ass and do something for a common goal.
Google Maps. Few streets, two POIs, scattered houses, beyond the village — uniform, featureless green.
OpenStreetMap. Same neighbourhood, but much more detailed. The “green” suddenly reveals forest, meadows, bushes and fields, footpaths and viewpoints; there's a big quarry absent from GM, a nature reserve beyond…

Or IOW: Gmaps is commercial support for drivers in cars - and even there at the last 200m approaching the destination it sucks.
- despite the name - is from humans for humans in all modes of transportation. Thus it comes with different renderings for different purposes.
