I didn't do an #introduction post when I started on here, because I had NO idea what I was doing (apart from starting my exodus from the bird site). Thanks to some generous souls here, I've quickly found my feet, so I'm now making one.
I'm a conservation biologist in New Zealand, specialty birds. Lots of #kokako work in particular. I love #dnd and have dabbled in other #rpg as well. Want to get my attention? Try these tags:

@owlislost @enzo They are absolutely delightful birds. I have worked with them quite a lot since arriving in NZ, between translocations, censuses, & nest finding. I remember seeing a doco on them when I was young in the 1970s & thinking how cool it would be to work with them, and now I do. I am truly blessed!
@CheekyKokako @enzo That’s amazing! I think the link I tried to put in broke but it’s easy to scroll his feed and see the beautiful photo. I don’t think it’s hashtagged with #kokako You are so lucky to be able to experience them in person and the world is so lucky to have you help them!

@GM_Tatum I like the feel of Mastodon- it definitely seems like a healthier community! Also seems easier to meet people, since the algorithm here isn't skewed towards narcissistic sociopaths like at the bird site.

I'm definitely getting used to it but enjoying the feeling of early platforms; I joined the bird site in 2007 and it had similar vibes (how much has changed!)
